The 2024 PNC Championship wrapped up Sunday afternoon, and it was an absolute thriller. Bernhard Langer and his son Jason took down Tiger and Charlie Woods in a thriller.
While many of the headlines of the day will surround Charlie Woods’ first career hole-in-one, he and Tiger played beautiful golf throughout the round. Team Woods shot a startling -15 with 13 birdies and the one ace. This was the closest the event’s most popular team has gotten to winning this event so far.
The Langers matched the Woods all around, shooting 59-57 to get into the playoff. The two teams tied for the lowest 36-hole score in the history of the championship. In the end, Bernhard Langer hit a lengthy putt for eagle on the final hole to win for the second year in a row. It is the sixth time Bernhard has won the event, the fourth with Jason.
Team Stricker played the best of the women’s groups, with Steve and Izzy shooting -21 to finish No. 7 on the leaderboard. Their eagle on the par 5 18 allowed them to jump Nelly and Petr Korda and shoot 60 for the day.
The Kordas had a good showing, finishing eighth, tied with Team Daly and Team Cink. They played better and more consistent golf Sunday, shooting 61, -6 on the front and -5 on the back.
Team Annika started fast on Sunday, with Will McGee’s putting once again very impressive, but they significantly slowed on the back nine, shooting just -3 and finishing right outside the top 10.
