We have reached the final major championship in our breakdown of every 2025 LPGA Tournament, and it is the AIG Women’s Open.
The AIG Women’s Open will once again wrap up the major championship season, and this time, it travels to a new location.
The 2025 AIG Women’s Open will be played at Royal Porthcawl in Wales, the first time the prestigious course has hosted this championship. Royal Porthcawl has hosted three Senior Open Championships since 2014, two of which were won by the legendary Bernhard Langer. The only women’s tournament it has hosted is the 1964 Curtis Cup, which was won by the United States.
Porthcawl marks a second year in a row this event will be played on a traditional links course, which isn’t always a given on the women’s side. The course is right on the coast and was founded in 1891. Porthcawl is ranked No. 43 in Golf Digest’s ranking of the greatest golf courses in the world.
The 2025 AIG Women’s Open will have a lot to live up to from 2024, which was arguably one of the best major championships of the last 10 years. The event, held at St. Andrews, featured some of the biggest stars in the world of women’s golf at the top of the leaderboard, as Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Charley Hull all tried to chase down hall-of-famer Lydia Ko.
The AIG Women’s Open will be played from July 31 – August 3, 2025, and will end the LPGA’s European swing. This will likely be the best chance for extensive TV coverage slots in women’s golf this season.
PREDICTION: Charley Hull wins her first-career major at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open. Though she claims she doesn’t care for links style courses, her resumé, especially lately, says otherwise. She consistently performs well in the Scottish Open, and being from England, certainly has extensive experience on these courses. One of the most popular players on the tour will get in the winner’s circle.
