It is almost time for the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and here at Fore-All.com, we will be breaking down every tournament, with information on the dates, location, courses and early predictions for each winner, starting with the major championships. Today, the first of the majors, The Chevron Championship:
The Chevron Championship will be entering its fourth year with Chevron as the title sponsor, and the third time it will be played at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. The tournament dates back to 1972, when it was hosted at Mission Hills Country Club near Palm Springs. The event was co-founded by entertainer Dinah Shore, whom the tournament was named after until 2000.
One of the signature features of The Chevron Championship, is the celebration, where the winner jumps into the water on hole 18 after winning. The tradition was started in 1988 by Amy Alcott, who ran into what would later become known as Poppie’s Pond. The tradition was continued after the move to the Houston Area. This is one of the most iconic traditions on the LPGA Tour, as the winner is then given a bath robe for cover when accepting the trophy.
Alcott, Betsy King and Annika Sörenstam hold the records for most times winning the event with three each. Three Americans in a row have won it, Jennifer Kupcho in the last playing at Mission Hills, Lilia Vu and Nelly Korda.
In 2025, the Chevron Championship will be played from April 24-27, the ninth tournament on the schedule.
PREDICTION: Nelly Korda wins the Chevron Championship for the second year in a row. Korda came one stroke short of making the playoff in 2023, and had an incredible week of ball-striking. Her win in 2024 was more dominant than the final results show. She has proven that nobody can nearly play this course as well as her. She wins her third-career major in April.
