After the second round of The Epson Tour’s Copper Rock Championship, rookie Melanie Green and Hailee Cooper are tied for the lead at -13.

After an opening round 67, Green was unstoppable Friday in Utah. Green shot a -8 64 with eight birdies and no bogeys on the day. While her putting wasn’t terrific, her accuracy was incredible. She hit all 14 fairways and all 18 greens. For the week she has only missed four fairways.

Green is a 23-year-old rookie who played her college golf at South Florida. Green’s most notable career moment up until now was winning the 2024 Women’s Amateur Championship, the first American to do so since 1996 and was the conference player of the year as a senior.

Green has played well so far, but it would be momentous to get her first win. Green is coming off back-to-back top-15 finishes after some early season struggles, and sits at No. 32 in The Race for the Card standings.

Cooper followed up her blazing Thursday 63 with a solid 68 Friday. Cooper had one major hiccup, with a double bogey on 13, but continued overall to hit the ball accurately with only one missed fairway this week.

This will be the second week in a row playing in the final grouping for Cooper, after her top-five finish last week in Arizona.

The third and final round of The Copper Rock Championship kicks off today.
