The trend of strong winners at the Meijer LPGA Classic continued in 2025 with Carlota Ciganda winning by one stroke over Hye Jin Choi at -16.

Coming into the final round at Blythefield Country Club near Grand Rapids, Michigan, there was a deadlocked leaderboard of six players at the top. Carlota Ciganda, the 35-year-old veteran from Spain, was among them.

Ciganda got off to a tough start early with a bogey on the second hole along with four early pars. She hit a hot streak though at the back half of the front nine, with birdies on 6, 8, 9 and 10. Struggles on 13 and 14 seemingly put her win chances in jeopardy, but three birdies on the last four holes along with some critical mistakes from Hye Jin Choi and Lexi Thompson, helped her to a solid two-putt birdie on the final hole to win.

Ciganda, known for her long hitting, used that to her full advantage averaging 296 off the tee on Sunday and turned it into 14 greens in regulation. That helped on 17, one of the toughest holes on the course, where she hit the shot of the day putting one just a couple feet from the hole.

This is Ciganda’s third win on the LPGA Tour and her first since 2016, where she claimed both of her other titles. She has won eight times on the LET including four since 2021. She is also a terrific Solheim Cup competitor having played six times for Europe with two undefeated playings. Her win continues the Meijer LPGA Classic’s streak of winners who have either won majors or played in Solheim Cups.

Next up on Tour is the third major of the season, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Ciganda is generally considered one of the best players in the world who has yet to win a major title, she has momentum now heading into this next one.
