In the morning wave of the first round of the Dow Championship, Gemma Dryburgh and Cassie Porter shot a -4 66 to take the early lead.

Dryburgh from Scotland and Porter from Australia, were nearly perfect, making just one bogey in their first round, which was an every other shot format. They also made five birdies, really excelling early on their round, which was the back nine.

Porter and Dryburgh made four birdies on their first nine, which all came in the middle portion. They made birdies on 12, 14, 15 and 16. They made an early bogey on the turn at hole 2, but got that stroke back immediately on hole 3.

The Chinese team of Yan Liu and Yahui Zhang also had a fantastic first round, coming in one stroke back of Dryburgh and Porter at -3. They made five birdies and two bogeys in this tough format.

Gemma Dryburgh is an established player on the LPGA Tour, with a win at the 2022 Toto Japan Classic. She has been in some solid form lately and is looking to capitalize on it. Porter has been wildly inconsistent in 2025, but has some solid finishes in this rookie season.

The first round of The Dow Championship continues today with many of the big-name teams on the course right now.
