Sophia Schubert, one of the most consistent players on the Epson Tour in 2025, is out to an early lead at the Casella Golf Championship played in upstate New York.
Schubert fired a -4 67 to lead the way, the lowest score of the morning wave on a day where the course didn’t surrender many low scores.
Schubert got off to a rough start with a bogey on the difficult opening hole, but recovered nicely at the end of the front nine, making birdies on 6, 8 and 9.
Once she made the turn, Schubert made a lot of pars, eight to be exact. The one hole she didn’t make par on though was actually an eagle on the par 4 12th hole.
Schubert is currently ranked No. 5 in the Race for the Card Standings despite not having a win yet in 2025. She ranks No. 3 in strokes gained total on the Epson Tour this season and is particularly strong with her ball striking. She is the highest ranking player in the Race for the Card without a win. She has made every cut, has had four top-10 finishes and has finished outside the top 35 just once.
Schubert spent a couple seasons on the LPGA Tour and gathered two top-10 finishes. She is perhaps most remembered for finishing runner-up to Brooke Henderson in the 2022 Evian Championship.
