Jeongeun Lee5, the 36-year-old from South Korea still looking for her first LPGA Tour win, was phenomenal in the second round of The Standard Portland Classic.

Lee5 was in the group tied for second place after the first day at -7, and started off her second round with four pars in a row. The entire round changed from there though.

Lee5 made birdies on the final five holes of the front nine, then made an additional one on the par 5 12. She did drop a shot on the par 3 13, but made pars the rest of the way out for a -5 67. After the morning wave, she held the lead by one stroke over major champion Grace Kim.

For the round, Lee5 hit 10 fairways, 13 greens and only needed 25 putts. After the round, Lee5 attributed those putting stats more to her approach play.

“The greens are so good here so when I go on the green, I tried to focus on what I need to do and the lines I wanted to follow,” said Lee5. “Honestly, all my birdie chances were a short putt so I think that was the reason I was able to make those birdies and have a low putting stroke today.”

Lee5 is currently ranked No. 267 in the Rolex Rankings and No. 103 in the CME Standings, so needless to say, a win here would go a long way for the 10-year veteran.
