The LPGA Tour returns to Boston this week for the second playing of the FM Championship at TPC Boston. The field is stacked, the TV hours are some of the best of the season and the purse is the largest of any non-major or CME Championship purse of the year. Here are our picks for the most likely players to win the FM Championship:
No. 5 – Jin Young Ko – This year, we have already seen some long winless streaks for great players snapped. Minjee Lee, Hyo Joo Kim and of course Brooke Henderson last week. Why not add another? Ko nearly won this event last year and has found some form over the last couple of weeks after a tough middle portion of the year. She is still one of the most elite players in the world with her irons, and can win any given week that her driver is working.
No. 4 – Nelly Korda – Statistically, it makes no sense that 23 players have won on the LPGA Tour this year and Korda isn’t one of them. She ranks No. 3 on Tour in strokes gained this season, No. 2 in scoring average and No. 7 in the CME Standings. With context, it is clear she has had some trouble with timely play, often she has one round that takes her out of contention and her putter has been inconsistent at best. Recently, she has had some strange struggles off the tee, though she still ranks No. 2 in that category on Tour. Korda’s win this year seems inevitable.
No. 3 – Haeran Ryu – The defending champion has had a bit of a strange season. It isn’t a sophomore slump since she is in her third year on Tour, but it kind of feels like one. While she did have a dominant victory in Utah early this season, the consistency she showed in 2024 hasn’t quite been there. Ryu has three top-10 finishes, but she had nine at this point last year, and has three missed cuts which matches her season total. She is still playing well, and showed good form in Portland, but on a course she is clearly comfortable on, this could be a great opportunity to get her season on track heading into the final stretch.
No. 2 – Jeeno Thitikul – It is hard not to pick the world No. 1 any given week, she puts herself into contention so consistently. Thitikul is the equivalent to a baseball five-tool player, there really isn’t any aspect of her game that is a true weakness and the eye test tells the entire story. She had another great finish last week in Canada despite not really being a part of the story. Her consistency is really taken for granted at this point. Thitikul has just one missed cut, nine top-10s and six top-five finishes on her 2025 resumé. There isn’t a course that would really suit her poorly, and she should be in contention again come Sunday.
No. 1 – Megan Khang – Like with Henderson last week, it really feels right that Khang is rounding into form heading into her home turf event. Khang has finished top 10 in her last two starts, and has four top 10s total in her last seven. While her putting hasn’t been strong, she’s quietly putting together an elite ball striking season, sitting at No. 3 in strokes gained tee-to-green. It would almost be too poetic to believe if another hometown hero won on the LPGA Tour this week, but the stats back it up that Khang should be in great position to get her second victory of her career.
