Asterisk Talley, the top ranked junior from Chowchilla, California, announced Monday she would be committing to play college golf at Stanford.
The 16-year-old Talley already has an impressive resumé, with a win in the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior, a runner-up finish at the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, a runner-up in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur and a win in the 2025 Junior PGA Championship.
Many believed the young junior superstar would forego college golf and attempt to make a run at the professional ranks right away, but if she were to go to college, Stanford makes a lot of sense. Coach Anne Walker has built a dominant program that routinely scoops up the best amateurs in the world. Talley is also from the region, with Chowchilla being only about 2 1/2 hours from the Stanford campus.
In a post to Instagram on Monday, Talley wrote: “This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of so many people. Thank you to Coach Walker and the whole Stanford team, my family for always believing in me, my sponsors for always supporting me, my coaches for pushing me to grow on and off the course, my teammates and friends for keeping the game fun and challenging, and everyone who has encouraged me along the way. I can’t wait to continue my journey at Stanford and represent such an incredible program.”
Talley isn’t the only young star going to Stanford in 2027, as she will join Anna Fang who is the No. 77 ranked amateur in the world and No. 5 in the AJGA Rankings.
Stanford is loaded for the moment, and the heavy favorite to win the 2026 Division I National Championship, but Anne Walker has gotten a couple big wins for the future here.
