No. 7: Sweden:
Any of the top seven teams on this list I think have a legitimate chance to win if they play at their best. Sweden is no exception. What Sweden lacks in consistency, it makes up for in raw talent and a lot of firepower. It also has a lot of match play experience thanks to three Solheim Cup stars.
The top player for Sweden is Maja Stark, who is ranked No. 14 in the world mostly thanks to her brilliant performance at Erin Hills in the U.S. Women’s Open. She was so in control that week and really dominated the field. Since then, it hasn’t been too pretty for Stark, who has missed 6/8 cuts and posted only one top-30 finish. The good news is that strong finish was a top five and in the last event she played.
No. 39 Madelene Sagström is the next player from Sweden and also brings much of the experience to this squad. Like all of the players from Sweden, Sagström has had a bit of an up-and-down season with win in Las Vegas and runner-up finish in Ireland, but also eight missed cuts in 17 starts. Sagström has just two top-20 finishes since the start of June on the LPGA Tour.
Based solely on her win in Los Angeles, Ingrid Lindblad has had a successful rookie year on the LPGA Tour, coming off her incredible college career at LSU. Since that win, it has been far from flawless, with her lone top-30 finish coming in Scotland. Still, Lindblad is starting to find some more form, making three of her last four cuts. This will be a good chance to see what Lindblad can bring in these match play formats.
Finally, this team has Linn Grant, the No. 53 ranked player in the world and a tough one to figure out in general. Grant has about as much pure talent as anyone on Tour, but hasn’t quite seen the results to back that up. She’s the only player on this team without a win in 2025, but has four top-10 finishes in 16 starts. Three of those are top-five finishes, including relatively recently in Portland. She has also missed half her cuts this year. In match play, it is even harder to figure her out. She went 3-2 in her first Solheim Cup but went 0-4 in her second.
If this team performs to the best of its ability, it could go on a fantastic run. It is just so hard to forecast how it will play, landing Sweden here at No. 7.
