After three rounds at The Annika driven by Gainbridge, one of Annika Sörenstam’s fellow Swedes, Linn Grant, holds a one stroke lead over Jennifer Kupcho.
Grant came into the day tied with Grace Kim for the lead, and started her day off with four pars before back-to-back birdies on holes five and six. She added her third of the day on the par 3 ninth hole to go out in 32.
On the back, Grant kept a clean scorecard with two birdies and seven pars to finish her third round with a -5 65.
Pelican Golf Club should suit Grant, who is one of the best iron players in the world. The course has wide open landing zones off the tee and requires precision from the fairway to sloped greens with difficult pin placements. Grant hit 17 of those greens and putted just well enough to keep clear of the lead.
Kupcho, another elite striker of the ball, is looking to play spoiler and win her fifth-career LPGA Tour event and second of the season. Despite missing five fairways, Kupcho still recovered to hit 14 greens and avoid making any bogeys. She shot -5 for the round as well.
With a win, Grant could become the first Swedish player to win the tournament hosted by the country’s most iconic golfer. The final round of The Annika kicks off Sunday.
