Somi Lee was a major breakout across the second half of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, but you should definitely know her name and be looking out for her in 2026.
Lee is 27-years-old and entering her third year on the LPGA Tour after a wildly successful stint on the LPGA of Korea, where she had five wins in three years. There was absolutely an adjustment period to the Tour, in 2024 she made 16/27 cuts with only one top-10 finish.
2025 was a massive change though. Lee made 22/27 cuts, had eight top-10 finishes and won the Dow Championship alongside Jin Hee Im. She played in just four of the majors, she didn’t have the world ranking status to play in the U.S. Women’s Open, but had three top-25 finishes in those events, including a top 10 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Lee finished No. 10 in the CME Standings.
Lee is one of the most well rounded players in the world. She gains strokes off the tee, on approach and on the greens. She hit over 78% of fairways and nearly 75% of greens, both ranking top 20 on the LPGA Tour. Lee had the sixth best scoring average on the LPGA Tour and had the fourth most sub par rounds.
The biggest issue Lee faces is keeping it all together for four rounds in a week. She’s generally fantastic in the opening round, ranking third on the LPGA Tour in round 1 scoring average. In the fourth round though, she ranked No. 49. With more experience, it is fair to make the prediction that she can turn that around.
Lee finished the season well. Since the beginning of October, Lee finished top 15 in five of the last seven events in which she played. She should have good momentum and is more experienced now. Look out for her to be on top of leaderboards all season long.
