Emily Kristine Pedersen, a four-time European Solheim Cup team member, has a broken wrist that will keep her out for a substantial chunk of the LPGA and LET seasons.
Pedersen posted on Instagram Thursday:
“Devastated to have discovered this week, after months of pain and MRI’s, that I have a broken bone in my left wrist and therfore have to be in a splint for the next 4-6 weeks. It couldn’t have come at a worse time as I was looking forward to starting the new season and to being with my sponsor @golfsaudi next week at the PIF Saudi Ladies International. I don’t know when I will be able to compete again, but I am working tirelessly with doctors, hand specialist’s and physio’s to get me through the next many months of recovery and hopefully get through this stronger than ever.”
Pedersen, 29, has been a staple on the European Solheim Cup teams, even when she isn’t in great form. Since a poor performance of 0-3-0 in 2017, she has built up a 7-6-1 record in the competition while being on two winning teams. She has been on each of the last three Solheim Cup squads. With this injury, that streak appears to be very much in danger.
Over her career that has spanned over a decade, Pedersen has established herself as maybe the most prominent player from Denmark, and has five LET wins in her career, including the 2020 edition of the Saudi Ladies International.
As Pedersen said, the timetable to compete isn’t clear yet, but if she will be in a splint for 4-6 weeks, it is fair to assume it will be a significant amount of time.
