Over the next few days, Fore-All’s preseason ranking of LPGA Player of the Year will be revealed, showcasing the top 10 players who we are looking at preseason to potentially win this award.
Kicking us off at No. 10 is the 28-year-old Australian Hannah Green, who is coming off the best season of her career in 2024, looking for a repeat this year.
Green has six wins and a major title in her seven seasons on the LPGA Tour, but took a huge step in 2024. Green won three tournaments, the HSBC Women’s World Championship, the JM Eagle LA Championship and the BMW Ladies Championship. Along with Nelly Korda, Ruoning Yin and Lydia Ko, Green was one of three players to win more than two LPGA Tour events. Green also finished runner-up to Korda at the Mizuho Americas Classic.
Green found some consistency in 2024, making 16/20 cuts and finishing inside the top 10 six times. She didn’t play well in the majors, with her best finish being 16th at the U.S. Women’s Open. Green finished seventh in the final CME Standings, the best of her career.
Statistically, Green is flawless, being one of the few players on tour who gain strokes in every metric. Green was top-20 in strokes gained tee-to-green, strokes gained around the green and strokes gained putting. Add it all up and she finished No. 8 in strokes gained total for the season.
This could easily be a flash in the pan type season for Green. Her season felt reminiscent of Celine Boutier’s in 2023, which resulted in an underwhelming 2024 for the Frenchwoman. I see a lot of repeatability though in Green’s game. She always feels so steady, and the moment never seems to get to her, as seen in her win at Wilshire Country Club in difficult conditions. She can also hit a lot of clutch putts and shots.
