While Akie Iwai dominated the first round at the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand, some of the home country players are performing well through one day.
Moriya Jutanugarn most notably sits four strokes back of the lead heading into the second round at -6, four strokes back of the lead. The older of the Jutanugarn sisters made seven birdies with a lone bogey on her way to a 66. Jutanugarn, like many of the leaders, showed incredible accuracy in the opening round, hitting 13 fairways and 15 greens.
Jutanugarn is looking for her fourth LPGA Tour win and third individual title this week. Most recently she won in Portland in August 2024. She is currently on the outside looking in at the Thailand team for the International Crown, but a win here could help her fight to secure a spot on that team.
One player who will certainly be on the Thailand International Crown team is world No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, who shot -4 in the opening round. Coming off a win in Saudi Arabia, Thitikul performed well in the first round, shooting 68 with birdies on her final four holes. She should use that incredible finish to propel her going forward.
Finally, Channettee Wannasaen also shot -4 in the first round, putting her in a tie for fifth place. While Wannasaen hit 13 fairways, that only translated to 12 total greens hit. Regardless, she took advantage of the greens she did hit with six birdies. At the moment, Wannasaen is the fourth highest ranked player from Thailand, so she is in position to make the International Crown team later this year.
