Charley Hull wasted no time getting to work on Thursday morning at the 2025 Ford Championship in the Phoenix area.

“I was up at 2:30 because I wanted to speak to my family and that back at home, and then I ran just a little 7k and then I had some rowing thresholds to do, and then I trained my lower body, so like my legs.” said Hull. “I was in the gym from 4:00 until 6:00.”

Despite the routine sounding crazy, especially with the extreme Arizona heat and sun on Thursday, it worked for the No. 10 player in the world. She shot a 63, the lowest first round of her career.

Hull had nine birdies without any bogeys. Hull only had three missed fairways on the day and hit every green in regulation. On hole 16 she hit a gorgeous approach shot into the green with a wedge and converted the putt, it started a stretch of five birdies in six holes.

The course appears to be playing pretty easy, a style that doesn’t necessarily suit Hull, but if she can keep up this pace for the entire week, she looks like a safe bet.
