In the second round of the Ford Championship, played in Chandler, Arizona, No. 1 and No. 2 players in the world Nelly Korda and Jeeno Thitikul took the morning wave lead at -12.

Thitikul started off the fireworks right away, starting birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie starting on the back nine. She added birdies on 15 and 17 to shoot a front nine 29. On her second nine, she slowed significantly despite a birdie on hole two. She bogeyed four, birdied seven and had pars the rest of the way.

Thitikul hit 16 greens and 10 fairways while needing only 27 putts. Through two rounds, Thitikul has only had 51 putts so far.

Not to be outdone, world No. 1 Nelly Korda followed up a solid -5 first round with a -7 second round, while playing in the same group as Thitikul. Korda had a clean front nine scorecard with five birdies and no pars. Korda also had a bogey on hole four, but had birdies on two, five and seven.

Korda’s ball striking was elite as usual, with 12 fairways hit and 15 greens. Korda has missed just five fairways all week and is a perfect 3/3 on sand saves.

Charley Hull and Lilia Vu are still on the course at -10 for the moment, but even if they continue playing well, Korda and Thitikul should be in heavy contention on the weekend.
