With the Augusta National Women’s Amateur kicking off this weekend, let’s take a look at some more of the competitors this week:

MEJA ÖRTENGREN

Örtengren, from Sweden, is a 20-year-old freshman at, you guessed it, Stanford. Örtengren currently is ranked No. 16 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and has five top-five individual finishes in her first college season including one win. She has played in this event three times, with her first appearance being her most successful, a T12 in 2022.

EILA GALITSKY

Eila Galitsky is looking to continue the modern tradition of excellent women’s players from Thailand. The 18-year-old who plays her college golf at South Carolina won the 2023 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific and was low amateur at the Chevron Championship. She also finished top 10 at Augusta in 2024.

SUVICHAYA VINIJCHAITHAM

Also from Thailand is 18-year-old Suvichaya Vinijchaitham, the No. 19 ranked player in the WAGR. This will be the first appearance in this event for the freshman at Oregon who has had a real strong first year with the Ducks with seven top-15 finishes including a win already this season.

LAUREN KIM

Lauren Kim, a Canadian who is a sophomore at Texas, is making her second start in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She placed top 15 in 2024 at the age of 18. Kim was the winner of the 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur and has one collegiate win on the season. She is currently the No. 20 ranked player in the WAGR.

FRANCESCA FIORELLINI

Fiorellini, a freshman at UCLA, is the highest ranked Italian amateur in the world. She has won three of the last four Italian Women’s Match Plays and got her first college win this year at the Bruin Wave invitational, where she triumphed by 10 strokes. She is making her second start in this event, where she placed T30 in 2024.
