United States Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford has announced the first new edition to the leadership staff for 2026 in Kristy McPherson.
McPherson played her college golf at South Carolina before turning pro in 2003. She spent four years on what is now the Epson Tour, where she won twice. She earned her LPGA Tour card for the first time in 2007.
McPherson’s strongest season was 2009, where she finished No. 16 on the money list and had top-10 finishes in three of the four majors. With that major championship success, she earned her way onto the 2009 Solheim Cup team, her lone appearance. McPherson went 0-3-0 in that event, but the United States got the win at Rich Harvest Farms near Chicago.
McPherson had 17 top-10 finishes in her career, including one as recently as 2020.
“Kristy and I have been friends since 2006. We traveled and played on Tour together, and I was just always impressed with her attitude. It didn’t matter what was going on around her or in her life. She showed up with a positive attitude and was always ready to give it her best,” said Stanford.
