Texas A&M’s Adela Cernousek’s title hopes were never in danger Monday, as she won the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Individual National Championship at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif.

The junior from France was propelled by her first three days, where she shot -4 68 in each round. That set up a dominant lead that allowed her to shoot even par in the final round to win by three strokes over Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Lottie Woad from Florida State.

Cernousek’s lead was never less than four until the final hole, which she three-putted for bogey to finish out. For the week it was only her seventh hole played over par.

This was Cernousek’s first career college victory, which is a bit misleading as she was a first-team all conference player for the Aggies this year and is ranked No. 30 in the world amateur rankings.

Cernousek will be back in action Tuesday, as Texas A&M was one of eight teams to qualify for the match play portion of the event, getting the three seed, where they will match up against six seed UCLA. Also in match play is one seed Stanford against eight seed Auburn, two seed LSU with seven seed Oregon and four seed USC against five seed Clemson.
