Major champion Allisen Corpuz is back in the field at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles this week, a course where she holds an honorary membership.

“I’m out here practicing pretty much every day on off weeks, and I try to play with the members. Probably get on the course like once a week,” said Corpuz.

Corpuz has been coming to Wilshire for a long time. When she played at the University of Southern California, the course was a part of the rotation of venues they played at. She isn’t taking that experience for granted though.

At the 2023 JM Eagle LA Championship, Corpuz missed the cut. She says it is noticeable how different the course is in championship form than on your average day.

“I just feel like — I mean, I know the course, but at the same time, it just plays so different when the LPGA comes in,” said Corpuz. “Like they firm up the greens, firm up the fairways, play it a little longer.”

The mission of the week does not change for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open champion just because she’s closer to home.

“I mean, nothing really changes. Still another work week. Just trying to keep everything the same and feel comfortable out there.”
