It was announced today that 31-year-old Ally Ewing is the third player to officially punch her ticket to the Washington D.C. area as a member of the 2024 United States Solheim Cup team.
Ewing joins world No. 1 Nelly Korda and world No. 2 Lilia Vu on the team. This will be the fourth time Ewing represents the United States in the event.
Ewing was a bit of a question mark entering the season, because of her less than average play in previous installments. For her career, Ewing has a 3-8-1 record and had a losing record in each appearance.
Ewing didn’t leave her spot on the team up to a captain’s selection this time around, fueled by the strongest stretch of her career. Ewing has finished top 10 in her last five events, including three majors. Because of this strong play, Ewing rose rapidly in the world rankings, coming just one world ranking spot away from making the United States Olympic team.
Ewing figures to pair with potential team member Jennifer Kupcho, with whom she finished runner up at the Dow Championship with this year.
Ewing is a three-time champion on the LPGA Tour and is generally considered to be one of the best players on tour without a major.
