Angel Yin won her second-career tournament, defeating Japanese rookie Akie Iwai by one stroke at the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand.
Yin saw her five-stroke lead narrow early, as she had pars on the first four holes, while Iwai had three birdies in that stretch. Iwai kept the pressure on all day, with 10 birdies, one eagle and one bogey. The rookie superstar hit 17 greens and needed only 25 putts, going on to shoot 61, her second round of 62 or better for the week.
Yin stayed the course and finished strong though, with her second bogey-free round of the week. Yin had seven birdies, including four on the last six holes. When Yin hits the ball out of the fairway the way she did this week, it will take something really special to beat her. Particularly in the final round, she was giving herself great looks at birdie all day, and with her skill on the greens, that is a dangerous combination.
Yin, the 26-year-old from Los Angeles, has now finished top 20 in 11 out of her last 13 starts, with eight of those being top 10s. She figures to put herself not only in good position for next year’s Solheim Cup, but potentially the 2025 International Crown team for the United States.
