Angela Stanford will officially be in the field for the 2024 Chevron Championship in her home state of Texas after receiving an exemption this week.
The news is notable because it will continue the streak of most consecutive major starts in professional golf, with this being Stanford’s 98th in a row.
The streak started back in 2002 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, remarkably Stanford hasn’t missed a start in over 20 years. In that time she has made 66 cuts and won the 2018 Evian Championship.
Stanford has seven wins total and has played in six Solheim Cups. This year, she will return as an assistant captain for Team USA for the second year in a row, and seems likely to take over the head captain slot soon. In addition, she has also worked as an on course reporter for the Golf Channel, a role she has thrived in since her first outing.
The Chevron Championship is the first major of the LPGA season and takes part April 18-21 at The Club at Carlton Woods in the Houston area.
