With the Augusta National Women’s Amateur beginning today, let’s continue to look at some of the players in the field:
CAROLINA LOPEZ CHACARRA
Carolina Lopez Chacarra is a 21-year-old from Spain who is ranked No. 27 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). Chacarra was a major contributor on the Wake Forest team that won the National Championship in 2023. Chacarra is making her fourth start in this event and has missed the cut each time, the last two years by only one stroke.
KARY HOLLENBAUGH
Kary Hollenbaugh, ranked No. 28 in the WAGR, is a 20-year-old who plays her college golf at Ohio State. Hollenbaugh hasn’t yet played in this event, but her three individual wins this college season makes her a player to keep an eye on.
CAITLYN MACNAB
Caitlyn MaCnab is a player with a wealth of experience in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, having finished top 12 in 2022 and 2023. The 23-year-old from South Africa plays her college golf at Ole Miss and is a three-time All American.
ROCIO TEJEDO
Rocio Tejedo, an 18-year-old from Spain, is having a terrific first season for the LSU Tigers, already racking up five top-five finishes, including in the East Lake Cup. She also reached the round of 16 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Tejedo is ranked No. 30 in the WAGR.
HUAI-CHIEN HSU
Huai-Chien Hsu, a 21-year-old from Chinese Taipei, is making her first start in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Hsu is ranked No. 31 in WAGR and plays her college golf for Texas, where she has two top-six finishes this season.
