It took a huge final round rally for the No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks to capture the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic by one stroke over No. 11 LSU.
After the first two days, it seemed to be a two-way race between LSU and No. 12 Texas A&M, who were at -4 and -3 respectively, the only teams under par at that point. Scoring exploded on Tuesday though, with Arkansas shooting -12 as a team while LSU shot -5.
No. 17 Auburn also had a huge day, finishing in third only two strokes off the win after a -11 day as a team. The Tigers were led by senior Anna Foster, who had the low score of the day, -7 65.
Arkansas was led by superstar freshman Maria José Marin, the No. 13 ranked amateur in the world, on Tuesday. After an opening round 77 and second round 71, she was back to her usual form with a -5 67. All four counting scores for the Razorbacks were under par. Arkansas finished the tournament at -10 overall.
The No. 3 Razorbacks are next in action two weeks from now, when they play in the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne Fla., there, they will take on a field that includes No. 1 Wake Forest.
