Ayaka Furue is back in contention at The Drive On Championship after finishing T4 at The Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions last week.

Furue got off to a great start last week, but evened out over the weekend going even par on her last 36 holes. With how strong the leaderboard is shaping up, she’ll need much better in Bradenton.

Furue is -7, currently one back of leader Nelly Korda and is in the clubhouse. While many have struggled in the morning and played well in the afternoon on the first two days, Furue excelled in both with a -3 and -4 on Thursday and Friday.

Furue has hit 36 of her first 38 greens, obviously a good start for strong play. While her putting stats don’t jump out, when you are hitting that many greens it can be a misleading stat.

Though Furue only has one win on Tour, she is so consistent and a breakout year feels inevitable. A win here combined with her strong finish last week would be a great start to her season.
