At the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, there are some interesting betting odds to look out for, some players that the oddsmakers see as relative long shots could compete. Here is a breakdown of some odds I think are interesting to look into:
Hannah Green – Hannah Green is averaging as No. 10 in betting odds for, being found at +3500. I see Green as a legitimate threat to win considering her heavy momentum with two wins and a runner-up finish this season. Green has earned enough this season to be considered as a top five player in any event.
Patty Tavatanakit – Tavatanakit is, somewhat quietly, playing really strong golf in 2024. Maybe its because her wins were international, in weird time zones, but she has an LET victory and an LPGA Tour win on her 2024 resumé. Tavatanakit finished in the top 15 in her last two starts, including a seventh place finish last time out. She is averaging as the 12th best odds at +4000.
Madelene Sagström – Sagström probably needs a strong season to make the European Solheim Cup team in 2024, and so far so good. Sagström has three top-10 finishes this season, including two of her last three starts. She’s played pretty well on the more tree lined courses on tour so far this season. She doesn’t yet have a major, but she is 17 in betting odds at +5000.
Gabriela Ruffels – Outside of Green and Nelly Korda, very few people are playing better than Ruffels this season. Her odds are likely lowered since she is a rookie, but her back-to-back third place finishes make me believe that her success continues. Momentum is powerful in golf, especially on the LPGA Tour. She currently sits at the 21st best odds at +5500.
Alexandra Försterling – The dark horse pick of the week for me is Alexandra Försterling, who over the last year has been the best player on the LET. Since September of 2023, Försterling has four wins in Europe, including last week in her home country, Germany. She is currently second on the European Solheim Cup points leaderboard. Along with Linn Grant and Maja Stark, she feels like a next generation European star. She is No. 51 in odds at +17000
