Celine Boutier defeated Ashleigh Buhai in the longest match in the short history of the T-Mobile Match Play at Shadow Creek.

It took 28 holes for the Frenchwoman to pull it out with a three footer for par. The previous record for the longest match in event history was 22 holes, just to put it all in perspective. For some extra context, Brooke Henderson advanced through the first three rounds only playing 27 holes.

Boutier’s putter went cold late, bailing out Buhai who was giving her chances at the end. Boutier had putts to win on three consecutive holes. This wasn’t the first time Boutier went far over 18 holes, she previously won a nine-hole playoff against Jeeno Thitikul in 2023.

When asked if she has the stamina to go play 18 more after a 30 minute break, Boutier correctly said that she doesn’t have a choice. She will play Madelene Sagström now in the quarterfinals.
