Carla Bernat Escuder of Spain, who plays college golf at Kansas State, is the winner of the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur after a dominant final round.
Bernat Escuder, the No. 26 ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, came into the day one shot back of 2024 champion and No. 1 ranked Amateur Lottie Woad. Escuder had a terrific front nine though to grab the lead, one she protected in an impressive display of consistency.
On the front nine, Bernat Escuder made four birdies to shoot -3, which included holes eight and nine right as the TV coverage was picking up. She made a terrific par save on 10 and was flying from there. She was flushing shots from the fairway and walking right after them.
The nerves did seem to kick in at the end, with a bogey on 17, her lead was cut to one over Asterisk Talley, the 16-year-old who had perhaps one of the best birdies in Augusta National history on the 17th hole. Bernat Escuder did hit a brilliant final putt to clinch the victory.
Woad had trouble getting much going, shooting even par for the round. Her championship came to a halt on the 10th hole, where a misplayed approach shot forced her to take an unplayable. She never recovered from there.
Bernat Escuder joins the list of champions at this event, including LPGA stars Jennifer Kupcho and Rose Zhang. She plans to turn pro later this year.
