It is major week on the LPGA Tour, as the Chevron Championship officially kicks off Thursday, April 18 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. To little surprise, it will be the best field on the LPGA Tour so far.
For the first time in 2024, the entire top-10 in the Rolex Rankings will be in the same field, as No. 6 Jin Young Ko makes her first start in the United States. Ko did play on the Asian swing, but other high ranked players, including world No. 1 Nelly Korda, did not make the trip over.
Speaking of Korda, she will be in the field, looking to get her fifth win in a row on the LPGA Tour, and her second major. Ko and Korda will be joined by 32 other major champions.
11 past champions are in the field, including Ko. Last year’s champion, Lilia Vu, Lexi Thompson and hometown Stacy Lewis are amongst the former champs teeing it up.
Four amateur have received exemptions. Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Lottie Woad, U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Megan Schofill, Latin America Women’s Amateur champion Ela Anacona and Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific champion Chun-Wei Wu.
Notably, major champion Angela Stanford has received an exemption to play in her 98th consecutive major. She can join Jack Nicklaus as the only two golfers to play in 100 consecutive majors this year.
