After one round at the 2024 LPGA Senior Championship, Cristie Kerr is in the lead by four strokes over Heather Bowie Young, Juli Inkster and Angela Stanford.

Kerr, the two-time major champion, 20-time winner on the LPGA Tour, shot an incredible -6 66 to take a commanding lead in her first career senior event. She got off to a quick start with an eagle on hole one and never looked back. Kerr added five birdies with only one bogey the rest of the way.

Kerr hasn’t won on the LPGA Tour since 2017, but her eligibility in senior events was bound to lead to success for one of the best American players of the 21st century.

While Kerr has a large lead, the group behind her is stacked. Juli Inkster, the seven-time major champion and LPGA Hall of Famer, shot -2 with three birdies and one bogey. Her round slowed on the back nine, but at four back she is still within reach.

Similarly is Angela Stanford, like Cristie Kerr, a player who still can be seen on the LPGA Tour. The major champion had a bit of a chaotic scorecard in the reported high winds, with six birdies and four bogeys.

The final member of the group at -2 is Heather Bowie Young. The 49-year-old had four birdies, including a stretch where she birdied three of four holes, and two bogeys to start off her championship.

Round two of the 2024 LPGA Senior Championship continues today from Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah.
