Being kept from playing in the Olympics may end up being the ultimate blessing in disguise for Dewi Weber, as she is in line to win her first LPGA Tour event this week in Portland.

While playing in the Olympic games is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, winning an LPGA Tour event would be a career changer for the 28-year-old from the Netherlands. Weber lost her tour card in 2023, and is only making her second start of the season. While Weber is certainly in play to earn her card back on the Epson Tour this season, she ranks No. 20 while 15 players get the card, this would be a bit of a shortcut.

Weber leads by two strokes over 2022 champion Andrea Lee and first round leader Polly Mack. She shot a -10 62 on Friday, and had 59 in play for a lot of the round.

Weber went out in -6 30, with birdies on the last five holes of the front nine. She immediately followed that up with birdies on 10, 11 and 13. She then hit a relative cold streak, with pars on 14-17 before finishing up with her 10th birdie of the day.

As you would guess, her stats were incredible. Weber missed just one fairway, missed just one green and had only 27 putts. She has missed only two fairways all week.

Weber will tee off in the final group Saturday for the first time in her LPGA career. Her round will be on Golf Channel at 6:00 PM et.
