At the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Championship on the Epson Tour, one shot stole the show on Sunday.
The clip has already made the rounds on social media, of three-time Epson Tour champion Laura Wearn pulling off an unbelievable shot on the 18th hole.
Wearn had a brutal back nine Sunday, with three doubles, two bogeys and only one birdie when she stepped on the 18 tee. After hitting her second shot near the water, it was going to take something special even to make contact. So, Wearn, a right-handed player, prepared to hit the shot lefty, and what transpired was pure magic. Fore-All was at the scene to get her immediate reaction.
“It was great, I wasn’t expecting that, it was a tough back nine so its always nice to finish with a shot like that,” said Wearn. “It was pretty cool…I was just trying to not hit it in the water and then when it went in it was an added bonus.”
Wearn said it was never an option to take her stance into the water, when she saw her lie it was always known she would be hitting left handed.
Wearn has some experience with the play:
“I have hit some chip shots and punch out from things left handed, so I did feel confident I could hit the ball, I just had no idea where it was going to go,” said Wearn.
It was a solid week overall for Wearn, where she had her second best finish of the Epson Tour season at a T32. The fourth round really hurt her with a 74, but the last shot will be one she won’t forget soon.
