With the LPGA season in full swing now, lets take a look at how some of the league’s rookies are doing in their opening months as members.
With very little surprise, Japan’s Mone Imani is leading the way so far. Imani is the most battle-tested rookie on the tour this year. She won her lone 2023 LPGA Tour start, which allowed her to play in the Tournament of Champions, the only rookie on tour who qualified for it. Imani has a WD and a missed cut on the season, but she also has two top 20s including an eighth place finish. Imani won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, so she is more than up for the challenge of playing against the best in the world.
Auston Kim sits in second in the rookie of the year rankings currently. The long-hitter from Oregon has played just two events, but has made the cut in both and finished in sixth at the Drive On Championship. Though the sample size is small, Kim is currently No. 3 on tour in driving distance.
Savannah Grewal from Canada made a big move at the Blue Bay LPGA. Despite a pedestrian opening two rounds, she shot -8 over the weekend to move into contention. She was the first rookie this year to crack a top-five finish so far at T4.
With the LPGA returning to America on a more consistent schedule next week, expect these rankings to shift over time.
