Through one round of play at the Australian Women’s Classic on the Ladies European Tour, LPGA Tour winner Grace Kim is sitting just two strokes back of the lead.
Kim, playing in her home country, shot a -4 66 in the opening round. She started the front nine -3 with birdies on holes 5, 6 and 9. On the back, she stumbled for the first time in the round with a bogey on 13, but did recover late with birdies on 16 and 17.
The 24-year-old Kim is looking for her first victory on the LET in her career. She has previously won on the LPGA Tour at the 2023 Lotte Championship, and had a strong season in 2024 with three top 10 finishes. She is currently ranked No. 85 and is the fifth highest ranked Australian in the world behind Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, Gabi Ruffels and Stephanie Kyriacou. A win here could help her International Crown status immensely.
Also in the field is Sarah Kemp, a veteran LPGA player also from Australia. Kemp hasn’t played since August of 2024 at the Portland Classic. Shortly after, she broke her leg in a golf cart accident. She had a solid return though, shooting -2, which puts her in a tie for 10th place.
Leading the way are Darcy Harry of Wales, Moa Folke from Sweden and Emma Spitz from Austria, all tied at -6 after shooting rounds of 64.
