Hailee Cooper, a 25-year-old second-year player on The Epson Tour, has been in great form as of late, which continued to the first round of the Copper Rock Championship in Utah, where she grabbed a two-stroke lead.

Cooper started the event off with a -9 63 where she didn’t have any bogeys. She started strong, with birdies on three of her first four holes, adding one more before the turn. To begin her second nine, Cooper caught fire once again, starting birdie, birdie, eagle, par, birdie.

In total, the Texas A&M alum made seven birdies with the one eagle. She was deadly accurate, hitting 13 fairways and 15 greens. She only needed 27 putts to complete the round.

As mentioned, Cooper has been really rounding into form. She has made all six cuts on The Epson Tour and has finished top 15 in her last three starts. At last week’s Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic, she was in the final group with major champion Sophia Popov, and finished in fourth, her highest result of the season. She currently ranks No. 11 in The Race for the Card.

Just a few weeks ago, Cooper qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open, so look out for her at Erin Hills in strong form.

Sitting two strokes behind Cooper is Carla Tejedo Mulet from Spain, who has also been in nice form this year with top 25 finishes in five out of six starts. She ‘s still looking for her first Epson Tour victory and sits at No. 22 in the Race for the Card standings.
