Hannah Green’s impressive 2024 season continued at the BMW Ladies Championship in Korea in dramatic fashion.
Green came into the final round holding a two-stroke lead over rookie Yu Jin Sung, but Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen started to put major pressure on the 27-year-old Australian early in the round.
Wannasaen shot a front-nine 30 with four birdies and an eagle to at one point, take the solo lead. Green started slow with a 35 on the front side, including a bogey on seven that featured some terrible putting. She got that stroke back two holes later though, thanks to a phenomenal approach shot on the short par 4 ninth.
Wannasaen’s round ground to a halt on the back nine, dropping two shots without any birdies, leaving the door open for France’s Celine Boutier to take control. Boutier birdied five of the last seven holes to take the clubhouse lead at -18.
Green, tied in the top spot with Boutier, hit a phenomenal approach on 17, one that landed past the hole, but slowly rolled back into make range. She hit it to grab the solo lead that she wouldn’t give up on 18.
This event was eerily similar to Green’s win at Singapore early this year, where she held off a Boutier final round comeback to win by one stroke. This is Green’s third win of the season and the sixth of her career. This now marks four wins in the last two years, after going three full seasons without an LPGA Tour title. She joins Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko as the only players with three wins in 2024.
