After the first round at the 2025 FM Championship, held at TPC Boston, major champions Sei Young Kim and Allisen Corpuz are leading at -7.
Sei Young Kim was out in the morning wave, and produced typical fireworks from the aggressive former LPGA Player of the Year. She made seven birdies without a single missed shot.
There are times when Kim can be a bit inconsistent, it can be the real downfall of her game, Thursday was not one of those rounds. Kim hit 12/14 fairways, 16/18 greens and had only 27 putts.
Kim’s last win on Tour was in 2020, a season where she won twice including her first and only major title. She can join the list of players breaking long winless streaks this year.
Also in the lead is the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open champion Allisen Corpuz. While most of Corpuz’s numbers were pretty average to her deadly accurate standards, 10/14 fairways, 14/18 greens, she was spectacular with the putter. Corpuz had just 26 putts.
Corpuz was a near winner in Arizona this year, but for the most part has been a bit quiet since her U.S. Open victory. The 27-year-old from Hawaii has just five top-10 finishes in the last two seasons, though she has been an essential piece to the U.S. Solheim Cup team, going 5-2-1 across two playings.
Kim and Corpuz are two strokes clear from a large group of chasers tied for second.
