At the moment, it seems No. 1 Nelly Korda will miss her second consecutive cut on the LPGA Tour, something she has only done three times since 2019.
Korda came into the Meijer LPGA Classic as a major favorite, as a past championship, but got off to a nightmare start for the second tournament in a row, starting +4 through the first three holes on Thursday. She recovered decently, shooting even par the rest of the way, especially considering the afternoon wave saw tougher conditions.
Taking advantage of the gentler morning conditions Friday, Korda looked like herself again, with birdies on her first three holes. While the round slowed over her last 10, she still shot -5 for the day to get to -1 on the tournament.
Korda was similar off the tee in both rounds, but improved dramatically on approach and the greens, hitting 15 greens and lowering her putts from a season-worst 36, down to 29.
Korda still has a chance to make the cut, which currently sits at -2, but the course played much more difficult in the afternoon, so in theory it could get down to -1. For that to happen though, a lot of players would likely have to drop.
