Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Lauren Coughlin is playing well in 2024.

The LPGA’s breakout star is currently in a tie for the lead in the afternoon of Thursday after a -3 69. TPC Boston is playing tough, with nobody yet lower than -3, but a whole host of players (10) sharing the lead.

Coughlin was as steady as they come, with four birdies, one bogey and 13 pars in her opening round. The ball striking numbers are frankly absurd for this round. Coughlin hit 13/14 fairways and 16/18 greens. While the putting numbers were pretty average, 31, when you hit that many greens it is inevitable that will happen.

Coughlin, who has lived much of her life in Virginia, will soon play in her home state at the 2024 Solheim Cup, thanks to her incredible play. Coughlin has two wins, both in the last four events, and seven top-10 finishes on the season. She currently ranks No. 4 in the Race to the CME Globe.

Coughlin’s hot streak ended last week, missing the cut in the AIG Women’s Open at The Old Course. It was her first solo missed cut since May at the U.S. Women’s Open. It looks like she is bringing that momentum right back though this week in Boston.
