After a pedestrian -1 first round, Lexi Thompson vaulted up the leaderboard Friday, shooting a -4 67.

Statistically there wasn’t a lot of difference in her two rounds. She did hit more fairways, hitting eight Friday compared to only six Thursday. That led to marginally better approach shots Friday, up to 16 hit as opposed to 14. Putting was similar for the most part, down to 30 today from 31 yesterday.

Its encouraging to see from Thompson, who got off to a terrible start in 2023, this shows her form at the end of the season is continuing into the opening of 2024.

If Lexi can start hitting some more fairways, her game looks very solid, and she should be in contention often.

She currently sits in a T6 with still more players set to finish throughout the afternoon. One thing is for certain though, she will play the weekend.
