Lottie Woad, kicking off her first full season on the LPGA Tour, will be heading into the weekend with the lead at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, played at Lake Nona Golf Club in Orlando.
Woad got her week started with a strong -5 67, which included four birdies and no bogeys on the front nine. It was a bit of a different story on Friday for the young British superstar.
Woad made seven pars in a row to kick off her day, before a birdie on the par 4 eighth. She immediately made a bogey six on the ninth hole though to shoot even on the front.
The day got much better on the back nine, with birdies on 11 and 12. She added another coming in on 15 to finish the day with a -3 69, a really strong mark considering the higher scores on Friday.
Woad hit 10 fairways and 15 greens, showing off how she is already one of the best ball strikers on the LPGA Tour. She is incredibly impressive, particularly on approach where she hits some beautiful shots.
Woad will have to contend with Hall of Famer Lydia Ko, who is tied at the top with the young star. She is searching for her third win in a professional event, second on the LPGA Tour. If she were to go on and win, it would be her first professional victory in the United States.
