Marina Alex is playing her best golf in years over the last couple of weeks, and it could not possibly come at a better time.
Heading into the final two events of the Asian swing, Alex was firmly on the border of making it to the CME Championship played later this month in Naples, Florida. But two fantastic events in a row have placed her safely in the field.
After taking the first two Asian swing events off, Alex finished T6 at the Maybank Championship, then was runner-up in a thriller against Rio Takeda at the Toto Japan Classic. Coming into the last two weeks, Alex had just three top-10 finishes on the season, with the most recent coming in early June.
Alex was ranked No. 66 in the CME Standings two weeks ago, where the top 60 get into the field. She now ranks No. 32 after slingshotting up the rankings. With only two more events between now and the final event, she is safely in the field.
The 34-year-old from New Jersey could well clinch her second-highest finish in the standings with a couple of more solid results. She is a two-time winner on tour, with the most recent coming in 2022.
