Playing in the far more difficult wave of players had little impact on Megan Khang, as she grabbed a share of the 36-hole Scottish Open lead alongside Minjee Lee.

Khang had to play in the heavy rain on Thursday which delayed the round twice, and the heaviest winds on Friday, but all of that is just part of Scottish golf. And Khang has a good game for Scottish golf.

Khang is keeping the ball in play and not making a lot of mistakes. Even with the adverse conditions that gave others in her wave fits, Khang has hit 25/28 fairways thus far and 31/36 greens. While the score differential wasn’t extreme Thursday, it was significant Friday. That makes Khang’s -4 score all the more impressive.

Khang has made just four bogeys along with 12 birdies so far. The highlight of her round was a fantastic chip-in birdie on the par 5 third hole, where she landed the ball just past the hole and had it zip back in the center of the cup.

The 26-year-old American star will have to compete with a loaded leaderboard, including Lee. Also in contention is a three-way tie for third that includes gold medalist Lydia Ko, as well as Charley Hull and Lauren Coughlin, sitting two back.
