Minjee Lee, looking for her first win since October 2023, has taken the lead after the morning wave of the second round at the JM Eagle LA Championship, played at El Caballero Golf Club.
In round one, Lee shot a solid -5 67, hitting 11 fairways, 14 greens and needing just 27 putts. Lee had six birdies with one bogey on the round and played well on the last 12 holes.
She bettered her score in round two, going bogey free on her way to a -7 65. Once again Lee hit 11 fairways but was much better on approach, a traditional strength of her game. Lee hit 17 greens in regulation and had 30 putts.
Lee is coming off the worst season of her career in 2024, where she was one of the worst putters on the tour and had just four top-10 finishes. One of the best players of the generation, with 10 wins and two major championships, has shown a lot of improvement in early 2025 thanks to better play around the greens. Lee switched to a long putter this year and the decision is appearing to be paying off.
The JM Eagle LA Championship continues with coverage on Golf Channel at 6:00 Eastern time.
