The Golf Writers Association of American has voted on its winners for player of the year, and unsurprisingly, Nelly Korda was the female winner in 2024.
Korda was joined by Scottie Scheffler on the men’s side and Ernie Els was the winner for seniors.
“It means a lot to me to win this prestigious award for a second time,” said Korda. “I am very grateful to all the writers and journalists that cover our sport. It is always special to be recognized by the Golf Writers Association of America and to be the Player of the Year is a tremendous honor.
Korda won the award previously in 2021, when she was the champion of four LPGA Tour events, including the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and the Olympic Gold Medal. This is the first time she has won both the GWAA Player of the Year and the LPGA Tour Player of the year.
Korda had a historic season, where she won seven LPGA Tour events, including a major at the Chevron Championship.
The Golf Writers Association of America was founded in 1946 to improve the working conditions at tournaments for golf writers.
Along with Scheffler and Els, Korda will be honored at Augusta National Golf Course the week of the Masters.
