European Solheim Cup Captain Anna Nordqvist named two vice captains for the 2026 Solheim Cup, and neither should be a big shock.
Mel Reid and Caroline Hedwall, two of the most fiery competitors in Solheim Cup history, have joined the captain’s room for the event taking place in the Netherlands next September.
Reid, the 37-year-old from England, is a one-time LPGA Tour winner and six-time champion on the Ladies European Tour. She played in four Solheim Cups, putting together a 6-7-3 record, including a 2-1-1 record in her final Solheim Cup, 2021. Reid was a vice captain in 2024.
While Hedwall, the 35-year-old from Sweden, may not have done much on the LPGA Tour, she was fantastic on the LET. Hedwall won seven times, leading to five Solheim Cup appearances. In 2013, Hedwall went a perfect 5-0-0 in a dominant European win. Overall she went 9-7-1. She often paired with Nordqvist, so it definitely isn’t a surprise to see the two team up again.
The United States’ captain Angela Stanford announced her first captain last week in Kristy McPherson.
