The No. 3 ranked Oregon Ducks women’s golf team looked up to the part this week at The East Lake Cup with wins over No. 28 Florida State and No. 21 Northwestern.

The East Lake Cup is an event played in Atlanta that features some of the top performing teams from the previous year’s women’s golf season on both the men’s and women’s sides. Previous individual winners include Solheim Cup stars Andrea Lee and Albane Valenzuela.

This year, the women’s side included Oregon, Florida State, Northwestern and USC. Unsurprisingly, Oregon looked fairly dominant, as the other teams have some significant players to replace.

One of those is Florida State, who lost Mirabel Ting and Lottie Woad, two of the best players in the nation. Despite that, the Seminoles seem to be reloaded fairly well as they competed well against Oregon in the semifinals. Sophia Fullbrook was actually the first two get a point on the board, and it was a garnet one. Oregon responded with a couple wins from Suvichaya Vinijchaitham and Sophie Han to take a 2-1 lead.

While Florida State’s Freya Russell got a second point for the Seminoles, the result was already decided thanks to superstar and player of the year frontrunner Kiara Romero, who had a dominant 6&5 victory over Alexandra Gazzoli.

On the other side, the defending National Champion Northwestern looked phenomenal against the No. 2 ranked team in the country, USC. Star Jasmine Koo was the lone Trojan point on the board as Ashley Yun, Arianna Lau, Megan Meng and Dianna Lee all got wins.

In the finals, Han, Vinijchaitham, Tong An and Romero all got points, with Romero having another big-time victory winning 3&2.
